UnlockingBrainTumors.org Announces First Annual Charity Golf Event, August 18th in the Chicago Area, Benefitting Pediatric Brain Tumor Research
HOLLAND, MI, June 24, 2008 - UnlockingBrianTumors.org, a Not for Profit dedicated to raising and distributing funds for the continued research into brain tumors, today announced will host its First Annual Charity Golf Event on August 18th, 2008, at Highland Park Country Club in Highland Park, IL, north of Chicago. Benefiting pediatric brain tumor research, the exciting day will include 18 holes of golf, golf cart, lunch and refreshments and a cocktail hour for participants. One hundred percent of net proceeds will be given to pediatric brain tumor research. Brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under the age of 20. UnlockingBrainTumors.org was launched in September 2007 by Stephen Coffman, a former business leader who left the human resources marketplace after being diagnosed with cancer and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor. "We are encouraging everyone to join us for this very important day, whether they can golf with us, become an event sponsor, volunteer or recognize a loved one with an In Memory Of or In Honor of sign", said Coffman. "A golf event seems an apt metaphor for recognizing the tremendous progress that the brain tumor community has made, and yet the continuous challenges we continue to face in funding critical research". The planned funding by UnlockingBrainTumors.org represents the latest support of brain tumor research by the organization, which has already directed significant funding toward research efforts as diverse as microbeam radiation treatment and drug therapies.
