UnlockingBrainTumors.org, Not For Profit Organization Formed to Increase Brain Tumor Awareness and Fundraising, Raises First $100,000 in Contributions
HOLLAND, MI, August 25, 2008 - Nearly one year since being formed, UnlockingBrianTumors.org, a Not for Profit dedicated to raising and distributing funds for the continued research into brain tumors, today announced it has surpassed $100,000 in direct donor contributions since its inception. The organization was launched in September 2007 by Stephen Coffman, a former business leader who left the human resources marketplace after being diagnosed with cancer and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Contributions by donors to UnlockingBrainTumors.org are tax deductible, as the organization was designated a 501(c)3 public charity in 2007. To date, the organization has directed donations to help fund several critical brain tumor research projects, ranging from microbeam radiation to vaccine and drug agent therapies to holistic medicines and quality of life research. The $100,000 figure does not include additional funds raised that UnlockingBrainTumors.org has helped to secure directly to and for third party beneficiaries. "This is a very special milestone for our organization to reach", said Coffman, "and we have put all of these dollars to very good use in helping to battle this terrible disease. We gratefully acknowledge our donors, and note that this is merely the first $100,000 we will raise; many more dollars are needed to fund critical research and improve patient outcomes." UnlockingBrainTumors.org continues to raise funds through a variety of channels, including targeted solicitation campaigns, grant applications, fundraising events and partnerships. The Musella Foundation For Brain Tumor Research & Information is the organization's lead beneficiary. The Musella Foundation, based in Hewlett, NY and operated by Al Musella, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life and survival times for brain tumor patients by tracking brain tumor clinical trials, streamlining the flow of information, organizing the brain tumor community and raising money for brain tumor research. It operates www.virtualtrials.com, and has worked tirelessly and successfully to bring attention to clinical trials, patient outcomes, research, letter writing campaigns for expanded treatment options, and a great many other contributions to the community. In addition to its lead beneficiary, UnlockingBrainTumors.org will also work closely with leading members of the brain tumor community, including The International Brain Tumour Alliance, The American Brain Tumor Association, The Brain Tumor Society, the National Brain Tumor Foundation, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and many others. # # # For More Information, Please Contact: For More Information, Please Contact: |
